Food Whore 4/5 Stars (Out October 20, 2015) . Food Whore (n.): a person who will do anything for food. Tia Monroe has her life all mapped out. Big move to New York City, food and writing studies at NYU, major internship with her cooking idol, and eventual plans to move in with her long-time boyfriend. . . But Tia’s plans go South pretty quickly. Not only has she lost the internship, but her grad program placed her in an internship she definitely didn’t ask for. . . It’s while she’s at her new internship that she runs into famous (and feared) New York Times restaurant critic, Michael Saltz. It isn’t her first run in with him, but it’s a meeting that will change the course of Tia’s entire life. Tia learns that Saltz has lost his sense of taste, and wants her to be his palate and ghost write his reviews. . . In return, Tia gets expensive and elegant meals, designer clothes, and a ticket on the fast track to the top of her career. It isn’t long before the insecure and timid Tia is riding the high of power, and the thin line of all her secrets ruining her. . . This was a little like "The Devil Wears Prada"…in a restaurant. I am totally the audience for this type of book. I appreciated the detail and time taken to describe the food in taste, smell, texture and preparation. This isn’t about food as sustenance, it’s about the passion of food. . I found myself thoroughly entertained and engaged. Tia was a well defined character that I connected with and understood. I think anyone who is trying to figure out how to make their dreams a reality will relate to her. . . How do you know the line between being bold and taking an opportunity, or selling out and losing yourself? . (And let’s not forget that this will make you hungry. A delicious read that is especially fun for people who have a passion for food, and a passion for their career.) . . #foodwhorebook #foodwhore #jessicatom

🎄Happy Monday you guys! Can you believe it's Christmas this week? This year flew by or is it just me? I got Food Whore by @jessica_tom about a week ago and it's gonna be my Christmas read this week. I'm still buddy reading Pride and Prejudice with @_halfbl00dprincess and almost done with my current read. This year I felt like reading something fun and Jessica's book seemed to fit the bill :) My review will be up after the new year and I'll be giving away a copy of Jessica's book as well so keep your eyes peeled 👀 • 🎄 What is your Christmas read this week? ------------------------------------------ 📝 Synopsis from Goodreads: "Food whore (n.) A person who will do anything for food. When Tia Monroe moves to New York City, she plans to put herself on the culinary map in no time. But after a coveted internship goes up in smoke, Tia’s suddenly just another young food lover in the big city. But when Michael Saltz, a legendary New York Times restaurant critic, lets Tia in on a career-ending secret—that he’s lost his sense of taste—everything changes. Now he wants Tia to serve as his palate, ghostwriting his reviews. In return he promises her lavish meals, a bottomless cache of designer clothing, and the opportunity of a lifetime. Out of prospects and determined to make it, Tia agrees. Within weeks, Tia’s world transforms into one of luxury: four-star dinners, sexy celebrity chefs, and an unlimited expense account at Bergdorf Goodman. Tia loves every minute of it…until she sees her words in print and Michael Saltz taking all the credit. As her secret identity begins to crumble and the veneer of extravagance wears thin, Tia is forced to confront what it means to truly succeed—and how far she’s willing to go to get there." #FoodWhore
